There’s something special about recording a podcast in person—especially when it happens on location at an event. These moments tend to lead to some of the most relaxed, honest conversations we’ve had. And when those conversations are recorded, they become more than just content they build real connection and confidence in the work we do together.
Being ‘on the ground’, for me, is the best part of the job. It has a spontaneity and energy that’s unique to in-person podcast recording. There’s also something delightfully entertaining about watching people wander past, curious about the lights, cameras, and what we’re up to. The energy from a live event doesn’t just help the episode feel warm and genuine—it reinforces trust. There’s body language, eye contact, shared laughter when you record in-person. The rapport built off-mic comes through on-mic too. Even though the final version will be edited and polished, that sense of authenticity lingers. It reminds clients of The Podcast Guys that our relationships are built on more than just deliverables.
Being at the same event already creates a sense of alignment. Everyone’s there for similar reasons—learning, sharing, connecting— so it’s the perfect environment for open, meaningful conversation. Whether it’s energy, politics, investment trends, or even what someone had for breakfast, the microphones start to fade into the background. It feels like a conversation between collaborators who just happen to be recording.
From my perspective, recording at events also helps demonstrate what working with us looks like in action. It shows we’re organised, calm under pressure, and focused on making the deliverables as high quality as they can be. For the client, it’s a chance to reflect on their work, share their ideas, and be positioned as a thought leader—without having to step too far out of their comfort zone.
Beyond the podcast itself, live events also open opportunities to create a whole suite of deliverables. We’ve produced showreels, announcement videos, and even captured behind-the-scenes photography—perfect for clients who want to show off their ‘film star’ moment!
